Patron Services Associate
Overview:In addition to being the point of sale for event tickets, the box office is The Music Hall’s information hub – the primary place where our organization connects with the public at large. In that capacity the most basic responsibility of all box office employees is to be ambassadors of the organization: friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and dedicated to answering the questions and assisting needs of our patrons, members, sponsors, clients, vendors and others.
This could mean, for example:
- helping a patron purchase tickets to a show, or
- directing a potential new member or corporate sponsor to our development department for more specific information, or
- putting a possible rental client in touch with our programming manager, or
- assisting patrons with directions to the theater.
- walking a customer through the process of ordering tickets online for the first time
Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons (including members, sponsors and board members) in person and over the phone in purchasing tickets to all Music Hall events; selling memberships, gift certificates and film tickets.
- *** to that end, box office staff MUST be familiar on an ongoing basis with current event information, ticket prices, promotions, membership benefits, and Music Hall procedures. In addition, staff should be familiar with The Music Hall’s website, especially the areas pertaining to ticketing and event information.

- Maintain an accurate cash drawer, recording and reporting any irregularities regarding funds.
- Enter and update relevant customer account information in ticketing database as necessary.
- Execute and report event sales reports from ticketing database as requested by promoters and/or in-house departments.
- Make sure that funds in all box office tills (cash drawer and change bank) are accurate and that the change bank is well-stocked each day with small bills and coins – make bank runs as necessary.
- Assist with administrative projects, as necessary and possible during downtime.
- Record and report all non-standard box office transactions – ie, refunds, seat releases, etc. – to box office manager or assistant manager.
- Communicate with other departments regarding any transactions/clients as necessary.
