TICKETS ON SALE 5/19 to members,

“There are legendary country singers, and then there’s Emmylou: a breathtaking
pinnacle of poise and elegance, and an artist who continues to innovate with every new release.”
– Time Out New York
The Music Hall welcomes Emmylou Harris to its Intimately Yours concert series on Friday, July 29 at 8pm. Already celebrated as a discoverer and interpreter of other artists’ songs, 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris has, in the last decade, gained admiration as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. Opening for Harris will be The Civil Wars. A folk-pop duo made up of guitarist John Paul White and vocalist Joy Williams, the Civil Wars new album, Barton Hollow, was released in February 2011, topping the iTunes charts and cracking Billboard’s Top 20 during its first week.
About Emmylou Harris
Few in pop or country have achieved such honesty or revealed such maturity in their writing as Emmylou Harris. Forty years into her career, Harris shares the hard-earned wisdom that, hopefully, if not inevitably, comes with getting older, though she has never stopped looking ahead.
Praise for Emmylou Harris:
According to the New York Times, Emmylou Harris’ new album Hard Bargain “is suffused with kindly intimacy, acknowledging sorrows and reaching past them.”
Praise for The Civil Wars:
“Together, John Paul White and Joy Williams are musical soul mates…with their playful banter and exquisite harmonies, they create music that is as haunting as a nocturne, soothing as a lullaby,”– USA Today
According to Patricia Lynch, “ Gifted with an authentic American sound that harkens to our roots, Emmylou Harris is musician and singer-songwriter of exceptional grace and talent. Opening for her is the new Americana sound of The Civil Wars. This evening promises to deliver the musical equivalent of gold and silver, the classic with the new. Expect soulful ballads, expert finger plucking, and the sense that we can go to a misty mountain home again, at least for one evening. One of my top picks for musical concerts in recent memory.”
