Another star writer in the news coming to The Music Hall

Writers on A New England Stage series welcomes Ben Mezrich on July 21

Author of The Accidental Billionaires (basis for the movie The Social Network)
and Bringing Down the House (basis for the movie 21)

Mezrich comes to Portsmouth with another awesome true tale,
Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History

As seen this week on CBS Sunday Morning, in Parade magazine and the New York Times…heard on Imus in the Morning and Morning Joe… Superstar author Ben Mezrich is coming to Writers on a New England Stage on Thu July 21. Mezrich is the author of The Accidental Billionaires, the basis of the movie The Social Network, the triple Academy Award-winning film about the founding of Facebook, and a Golden Globe Winner for Best Motion Picture. Mezrich also authored Bringing Down the House, the basis of the movie 21, about a group of MIT students who, with their brilliance in math, beat Las Vegas at its own game of probability. Critics hail:

“Mezrich specializes in rollicking reads about real people whose outsize actions seem tailor-made for the movies.” – Parade

“Sex on the Moon is a rollicking summertime page-turner crackling with sex, astronauts, stolen dinosaur bones and international cyber-intrigue”
– Miami Herald

“One of the summer’s most fun reads…crime, part love story, part madcap caper, part astrogeekery.” – NPR.org

“A thrill ride.” – New York Post

In a recent interview, Mezrich said of his success as a writer, “In many ways I am creating my own genre – about high stakes and kids who are pulling things off. The idea that two college kids in a dorm room could become millionaires is very appealing, particularly to younger readers.” Mezrich will present his latest work, Sex On The Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History, an Ocean’s Eleven style thriller. Said Mezrich of his new book, another true tale, “It’s the story of a brilliant college kid in the co-op program at NASA who, to impress a 19 yr-old-girl, steals a safe full of moon rocks, one from every moon landing since 1969. It’s amazing, it’s unbelievable. He wants to give his girlfriend the moon - an incredible American story that’s never been told.”

Mezrich has “cornered the market on telling the tales of today’s awesome and ambitious youth,” said Writers on a New England Stage Associate Producer Margaret Talcott. His author’s presentation will be followed by an interview with Virginia Prescott, host of New Hampshire Public Radio’s “Word of Mouth.” Live music will be performed by the award-winning house band Dreadnaught. The live shows will be rebroadcast on New Hampshire Public Radio.
