Help make summer a little brighter

Three years ago when we first started talking about Fill the Hall, I was surprised to find out how many people in our community struggled to have enough to eat. It has been eye opening to learn about the work that Gather (formerly Seacoast Family Food Pantry) does in our community. As I started to learn more about the work that they do, I learned that we have a large population of children who don’t have options for healthy meals during the summer months.

This is where Summer Meals for Kids comes to play. This program ran by Gather, fills the gap left when school lets out for the summer and these kids no longer have access to the free breakfast and lunch programs. They make sure that there are fun meals, recipes, and staple items to help these families.

So how can you help? It’s super easy. You can swing by the Historic Theater on Saturday between 9am and 5pm with a bag of food. If you can’t make it to downtown, you can drop off your bag on Friday to the HT. Or for just $12 you can buy a bag online and we’ll make sure it gets placed on a seat for you.

I hope you drop in on Saturday to help us spread some #PortsmouthLove.
