Italian Tile, Italian Lighting, and a View That’s All Portsmouth

This kitchen has other exquisite features. And that isn’t too strong a word. Wait until you see the handcrafted Italian tiles behind the stove, on either side of which are countertops made of green Costa Esmeralda honed granite. Windows that flank the stove/oven/microwave draw light into the space. And on either side of those windows are lovely floating shelves. Artistic function at its best.

Throughout the house, including the kitchen, the homeowner has lighting made of handblown frosted glass from Italy. It’s just one nice feature after another in this place. And not all of these features are as obvious as the Italian tiles or pendant lighting or custom white-washed oak floors. There’s the wonderful soft-close drawers, useful drawer dividers, and pull-out shelves for various dishes and appliances.  And to make things a little easier for the cook, the faucet is motion sensitive.  Nice to have when you’re covered in flour from dredging haddock on its way to becoming piccata.

I have to clue you in, too. One of the perks of working hard on the Kitchen Tour committee is that the homeowners often show us around the entire home when we first go to check out the site. If you think the kitchen in The Stolzer home is terrific, you’re right. But the bathroom? Oh, my goodness. It’s like a spa. What a luxurious place to wind down after cooking all day.

Come see this home for yourself on this year’s Kitchen Tour to Benefit The Music Hall. It’s Saturday, May 13, the day before Mother’s Day. As I said, this is only one of 12 homes on this year’s tour. Did I mention it has a fantastic water view?
