Take a journey back in time to the nineteenth century White Mountains of New Hampshire for an in-depth look at one of America’s earliest and most beloved artist’s movements.

Emmy award-winning producer Andrea Melville’s newest documentary, “Brush and Pen: Artists and Writers of the White Mountains,” examines the famed White Mountain School as never before. Capturing nearly one hundred years of artwork and prose, the film offers new insight into this era through interviews with White Mountain School scholars and original works from public and private collections.

The documentary is presented as a very special pre-opening event at The Music Hall Loft, Portsmouth’s highly-anticipated new center for performing arts, literature and education. The evening will feature a creative boxed theater dinner, a silent auction and a panel discussion with Melville and fellow White Mountain School experts. A private collection of White Mountain Art will be on display.

All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory, New Hampshire’s legendary research and educational institution. For more information about Mount Washington Observatory, please visit www.mountwashington.org
