RPM Challenge 2012
The RPM Challenge is an annual creative challenge to musicians to write and record an original album during the month of February, just for fun. Then, at the end of March, we celebrate by getting together and listening to all the new music!
RPM has grown dramatically in the seven years since it was started by The Wire, and it now attracts thousands of bands from around the world, including hundreds of musicians right here on the Seacoast. It has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, the CBC, and Pitchfork.com, as well as inspiring other alt-weekly papers to bring this unique musical challenge into their own communities.
Join us for the opening ceremony at The Music Hall, meet the musicians who participated, then fan out across town to enjoy one of several listening parties at various venues in downtown Portsmouth.
What does it sound like when an entire community makes music? Come with us and find out at this extraordinary free music event.
