Upper Lobby

Upper Lobby, Crowded :: (c) Quentin Stockwell

The current upper lobby was designed for use in a different time - the period during which The Music Hall was a movie theater, from 1945-1985. The design of the concession stand stands in stark contrast to rest of the historic theater, as it was modernized in 1945. Following WWII the goal was to strip the U.S. of too many European influences and, with this upper lobby, the strip-down – rather, a “paint over” - was accomplished. Underneath the layers are some remarkable designs, consistent with the theater’s interior . Our goal is to do the same due diligence we did in the theater, with the ceiling dome and the proscenium arch, and to restore the old designs and look.  All it takes is a major capital campaign… and we’re on our way with Treasure the Future.
