A guide to this fall’s Writers on a New England Stage authors

This September, Justice Stephen Breyer will be making his Music Hall debut with his book The Court and the World, where he looks at how the United States Supreme Court’s rulings impact the rest of the world as well as how the rest of the world impacts the Court. Examining issues that span from National Security, to Human Rights, and Copyright protection Justice Breyer provides an invaluable understanding for lawyers and non-lawyers alike.

In October, Jodi Picoult returns with her newest book Small Great Things. The beloved author of thought provoking books such as My Sister’s Keeper and Nineteen Minutes will be discussing her new novel about racism, a newborn’s life and death in a rural Connecticut hospital, and a devastating court case.

Award winning Chef, bestselling author, and beloved TV personality, Mario Batali comes to the Historic Theater this November with his new cookbook Big American Cookbook: 250 Favorite Recipes from Across the USA. The larger than life, orange croc wearing, chef brings together some of the very best recipes from around the Country to celebrate the best of America’s cuisine. Ranging from the specific BBQ styles of Texas, Kansas City, Memphis, and the Carolinas, the many variations of chowder along the northeastern Coast, to the sweet takes on berry pies in the Pacific northwest, this cookbook will take you on a culinary journey across state lines and cultures.

With so many great authors to hear from and books to read, we thought we’d share some helpful tips and tricks.

  • Some authors are not available to purchase tickets online, in these cases the webpage will not have this button Buy Tickets. To get your tickets and book voucher please call the Box Office 603 436-2400 or stop by the Historic Theater Monday- Saturday 12-6pm.
  • When you buy your tickets, you’ll also receive a book voucher, this will look very similar to your tickets. Please make sure to bring it with you to the show to pick up your signed copy of the book. You’ll be able to collect your book in the upper lobby before the show.
  • Bring questions with you. As you enter the the theater, you’ll see volunteers with white index cards and pencils. Write down your question and return it to the volunteer and Virginia Prescott could ask one of your questions from the stage.
  • If you can’t make the show but still want a signed copy of the book, stop by or call the Box Office, we usually have extra copies that make great gifts.
