Comedy Star Juston McKinney Returns to The Music Hall

A well known television performer, his stand-up has been featured on Comedy Central and the Tonight Show, and his impressive resume also includes acting roles on some of the better known sitcoms. These days, Juston not only keeps busy at his craft but also as a father of two young boys. Our Deputy Director of Programming and Performing Arts Curator, Thérèse LaGamma persuaded him to take a break from his busy schedule and answer a few questions in anticipation of his upcoming show Juston McKinney’s Last Laugh 2014 on Saturday, December 27.

LaGamma: Juston, what is it that is keeping you busy these days project-wise?
McKinney: Since June I have been developing a sitcom with Courtney Cox and David Arquette’s production company, based on my stand-up. Hopefully something comes of it, smile.

LaGamma: How is fatherhood? What do your boys think of the work you do?
McKinney: This photo of my two boys sums it up!

LaGamma: Are either of them comedians in the making?
McKinney: Right now they are more hecklers than comedians. But that could change.

LaGamma: How many shows do you average in a year?
McKinney: I perform about 150 a year.

LaGamma: Who are some of the comedians that influenced you as a child?
McKinney: There were many. George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Sam Kinison, Rodney Dangerfield ,and Jerry Seinfeld were all some of my favorites before I got into my own comedy.

LaGamma: Who do you most admire on the comedy circuit today?
McKinney: I would have to say Seinfeld because he is still doing it, when he clearly doesn’t need the money.

LaGamma: Any special message you’d like to give to your fans about your upcoming show this December 27?
McKinney: Yes, please come. Because I clearly need the money.

LaGamma: What are you most excited about regarding your return to The Music Hall stage?
McKinney: The commute. I live 18 minutes away. But more seriously, having grown up on the Seacoast, it’s always special to come home.
