As the number of COVID transmissions continues to rise, we are thankful for your help in keeping our staff, volunteers, artists, and community members safe and healthy.

Effective September 1, 2021, for entrance to Music Hall indoor, full-capacity events (e.g. concerts, comedy, festivals): patrons, staff, and volunteers will need to show proof of full vaccination – 14 days past their final vaccination shot – OR proof of a negative COVID-19 test* within three days of the event. Proof of vaccination can be your physical vaccine card or a photo/scan of your card or via an app such as Bindle. Masks are encouraged for everyone. Children under 12 years of age are exempt from this policy but must wear masks indoors. Masks are highly encouraged for those who are unvaccinated. 

Please note: Safety protocols for offsite Music Hall events will be developed in conjunction with those venues and will be communicated in advance.

*Negative tests: We accept negative results for PCR, Rapid, and at-home tests. We don’t accept positive antibody tests.

All Music Hall events will be presented in accordance with applicable public health mandates and artist’s requirements as of the date of the event. These could include changes to mask requirements, capacity, attendance prerequisites, procedures, and other protective measures. Thank you for your understanding and support throughout this uncertain time.

Why We Are Requiring These Precautions:

  • We’re following the current transmission ranking for Rockingham County (NH) from the CDC, which is compelling us to implement additional safety protocols. 
  • Guidance from our federal health officials currently indicates that the vaccines are safe and are highly effective in reducing COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths.
  • Many businesses, including our own, have suffered significant financial losses. In addition to the financial and health impacts, people have become increasingly isolated as a result of the pandemic. Together, we must take these temporary safety measures in order for all of us to be able to safely gather, rejuvenate the downtown economy, and most importantly, connect with one another through the arts and live entertainment. With your help, live music lives on!

What We’re Doing to Keep You and Our Staff Safe:

  • We are following guidance issued by the State of New Hampshire and CDC, as well as adding other safety measures
  • We have a brand new, upgraded HVAC system, with medical-grade filtration and iWave ionization
  • We will be reassessing often and adjusting protocols as the situation changes

What We’re Asking You to Do When You Visit:

  • We’re asking you to protect yourself, our staff, and our community by wearing a mask if you are not vaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated, a mask is optional
  • If you are feeling sick, have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, loss of smell or taste, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, gastrointestinal issues), or if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, please stay home!
  • Follow signs and guidance to your seats
  • Hand sanitizer stations are placed throughout the theater. Please sanitize your hands upon entering the theater, and wash your hands after using the restrooms
  • Practice social distancing wherever possible
  • Even if you feel healthy and safe, please be considerate of your fellow patrons by following these protocols and be respectful of your neighbor 

Please review the following screening questions prior to entering The Music Hall:

  • Have you been in close contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have had COVID-19 in the last 10 days?
    (NOTE: Healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment should answer “no” to this question.)
  • Have you had a fever or felt feverish in the last 24 hours?
  • Are you experiencing any respiratory symptoms, new muscle aches, chills, or changes to taste and/or smell?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please do not put our employees and other customers at risk and come back another day when you feel better.

FAQs

Do I have to wear a mask?
We are encouraging mask-wearing inside at events, though it is not required for fully vaccinated people. 

Where can I get a COVID test?
See this statewide list of testing sites. If you are in the Portsmouth area, here are some testing facilities nearby that are recommended by the City of Portsmouth.

What if I’ve only received my first (of two) vaccination shot?
You are still able to attend events inside of The Music Hall with proof of a negative test. Those who received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson are good to go.

What does the new HVAC system do? 
The new HVAC has a new fresh air intake and will run on a 24-hour schedule. There are custom filters for both facilities and the new system is retrofitted into systems like hospitals and gyms. It’s called the iWave system and it is a commercial-grade ionizing system that will help improve our HVAC filters. Ionization attracts and combines particulates so that they are captured more easily by the filters.

How are you keeping the theater clean?
The theater will be thoroughly cleaned each day between events. Surfaces will be regularly sanitized throughout the day with strong disinfectant products.

There is an inherent and elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place and there is no guarantee, express or implied, that those attending an event will not be exposed to COVID-19.

Attendee Promise & Health Acknowledgement
All attendees agree to follow venue policies – including health and safety policies – and posted instructions while visiting. All attendees should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend the event. By entering the venue, attendees voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and confirm that they will adhere to local quarantine mandates and the CDC quarantine requirements, available on the CDC website.
