About Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra:

Founded in 1997, the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) began as a space for local musicians to create and share music with the Seacoast community. Today, the PSO has grown into a premier regional cultural presence and proudly serves as the Resident Orchestra of The Music Hall. This core partnership anchors the orchestra’s artistic vision, bringing full symphonic experiences to a historic, world-class stage.

Under the leadership of Music Director John Page, who joined the orchestra in 2011, the PSO has achieved deep artistic growth and broad community engagement. The orchestra comprises more than 65 local professionals, educators, and dedicated volunteer musicians. Together on their home stage at The Music Hall, they perform a dynamic Main Stage season with repertoire spanning timeless masterworks, vibrant contemporary pieces, and family favorites like the Holiday Pops.

This partnership also drives the PSO’s impactful educational and collaborative programs. Alongside in-school enrichment developed with local educators, the orchestra partners with The Music Hall to present school-day concerts, introducing thousands of local students to live orchestral music. Elevating this shared vision even further, the PSO and The Music Hall launched its high-profile Guest Performing Artist Series in 2025, which was inaugurated by legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman.
