RENTER MARKETING TIPS

Before Announcing Your Event

  • Figure out the pitch (exactly what will patrons see/hear on stage) and the audience. Who is your audience and how can you best reach them? What do they read, watch, listen to, belong to, attend?
  • Find an underwriter or sponsor(s) to help market the event with you.
  • Pull together all show content – name, blurb, day/date/time, ticket price, image – for your marketing and for TMH communications.
  • Create a budget of all projected expenses i.e. purchasing ads, printing posters.

Announcing and Promoting Your Event

  • Send your “Just Announced” press release to media outlets. Local media contacts: http://bit.ly/2mcaoZ7
  • Facebook campaign: create a Facebook event for your show with image/info and ask your audience to share.
  • Posters: create 11×17 posters for distribution in Historic Theater vestibule (space for no more than 2) and around town/Seacoast.
Please note: All posters that are distributed and placed by Lessee in locations other than The Music Hall property must strictly adhere to city/town ordinances. In the city of Portsmouth, please refrain from hanging promotional posters on street lamps, telephone poles, and traffic lights.
  • Create fliers/postcard to leave at the box office and for you to distribute around Seacoast (see The Usage Policy Agreement, IV.4 for requirements. The Music Hall must pre-approve before printing).

Additional Marketing Options to Consider

  • Are you an annual renter at TMH? Buy space in our Playbill (deadline: June 28, 2019)!
  • Are you a member of the Portsmouth Chamber Collaborative? If so, provide them with fliers for Visitor Center (and in summer, kiosk). Consider purchasing a Chamber Enews.
  • Keep track of coverage – set a Google alert; post link to an article on Facebook, select the best quote from it – use it everywhere, start a list of testimonials and use next year
