Nine Days gave the world the unforgettable earworm, “Absolutely (Story of a Girl).” Since its release in 2000, that song, the second single, “If I Am”, and the album they came from, The Madding Crowd, has stood as a cornerstone of late 90s/early 2000s pop-rock. With over 200 million streams and over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and a recent RIAA double-platinum certification for “Absolutely (Story of a Girl),” Nine Days has cemented the band’s place in music history.
Formed on Long Island, New York in 1995, Nine Days was built on the creative partnership of singer/guitarists John Hampson and Brian Desveaux. Combining heartfelt lyrics with catchy melodies and big guitars, the band has released nine albums over its career and continues to perform live and create new music.
Singer John Hampson has been hitting the road performing acoustic shows and is the co-creator of “Story of a Song/ A 90s Unplugged Experience” along with Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe. “Story of a Song“ is a writers round of 90s alternative rock singers and has featured Chris Barron from Spin Doctors, Vinnie Dombroski from Sponge, J.R. Richards, the original lead singer of Dishwalla, Todd Pipes of Deep Blue Something and Brendon Brown from Wheatus, to name a few.
Whether performing full band with ninedays, as an acoustic duo with percussionist Jon Loree (Smile Empty Soul), or with his 90s alternative rock contemporaries, John Hampson and Nine Days remain an active and exciting live act.
