A lively, welcoming conversation about how to plug into the Seacoast’s writing scene. Whether you’re a lifelong writer or just getting started, this panel will highlight the many ways to show up, share your work, and find your people.

Ian Lenahan – Reporter with Seacoast Media Group – Ian Lenahan is a general assignment reporter for the Portsmouth Herald (Seacoastonline). His work has been recognized by the New Hampshire Press Association and the New England Newspaper and Press Association, and he has taught a journalism course at UNH, his alma mater. Ian lives in Portsmouth.

Dr. Nancy Pearson – Author of Smalltown City – Dr. Nancy Pearson—award-winning author, former educator, and two-term Portsmouth city councilor—calls herself a Local Government Evangelist. She champions “radical curiosity” about where we live, and through books, videos, and speaking engagements, shows citizens how to strengthen democracy by influencing local leaders and driving community change.

Lauren WB Vermette14th Poet Laureate of Portsmouth, NH – Lauren WB Vermette is the 14th Poet Laureate of Portsmouth, NH. Her work has appeared in Rat’s Ass Review Journal, Sledgehammer, Solstice, and Underground Writers Association, among others. Her first collection of poetry, And The Form Falls Away (2018), was published by Bee Monk Press.

Panel’s Moderator: Jackie Harris, NHPR’s Morning Edition producer – As the producer for Morning Edition, I produce conversations that give context and perspective to local topics. I’m interested in stories that give Granite Staters insight into initiatives that others are leading in New Hampshire, as well as the issues facing the state.
