25th Anniversary Kitchen Tour Tips and Tricks

Buy your tickets early! We have a special advance ticket price ($25 for members $27 for non-members) day of tour ticket prices, if you wait until Saturday tickets will be $30. Another perk of buying your tickets early is you can skip the line at the box office and start at any of the 10 houses on the tour.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast. It’s been changing a lot this week, but you’ll want to make sure you’ve got rain gear and sunscreen.

Wear your walking shoes. While you’re planning what to wear, make sure to wear shoes that you can walk through town in, we’ve clocked the route at about 3500 steps just going house to house.

Make a Day of it. The tour starts at 10am, so plan to spend your day in town. Our handy Kitchen Tour Map has some great restaurants on it that make great lunch spots. There are also a ton of great shops all around town to pop in and out of while you’re checking out all the great Kitchens. You can download a copy of the map HERE.

Take notes. These kitchens all have amazing design elements created by local craftsmen. Each home has information on the people who made these dream kitchens a reality.

Commemorate the occasion. Make sure to stop by our box office and buy a copy of our 25th Anniversary Commemorative Cookbook. To celebrate 25 years of this great tour we put together a cookbook packed full of Music Hall members, staff, and sponsors favorite recipes, I even have one in there on page 12. This is a perfect Mother’s Day gift or keepsake.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Each house will have dedicated people there to answer any questions you might have about the kitchen. Staff members will be roaming around town wearing purple shirts, the rumor is they’ll even have cookbooks with them that you can buy right there.

Have a great time on the tour! We’re so thrilled that you are celebrating our anniversary year with us. It’s going to be a great day, full of amazing kitchens, in beautiful downtown Portsmouth.

If you can’t wait until Saturday, check out these great blogs from Kitchen Tour Committee member, Nancy Winkley, that will give you a sneak peak into a few of the homes.
