Curating a new season at The Music Hall

Patricia Lynch

Executive Director

PL Headshot “There are so many great shows going on sale that it’s hard to narrow it down, but right now I am loving Wynton Marsalis, Chris Isaak, and White Christmas!

Wynton is always a Music Hall fan favorite and I can’t wait to welcome him back with the Lincoln Center Jazz band. If you haven’t had the chance to see them perform live yet, don’t miss this show.

Who would turn down a chance to see Chris Isaak, in our intimate Historic Theater? His great voice matched with our amazing acoustics, I know it’s going to be a show everyone is talking about.

If you haven’t got your tickets for White Christmas, get them now! It’s a holiday card that has come to life right on our stage, packed full of iconic songs, stunning dance numbers, and did I mention Broadway actors? Also, for those of you who are members, you get an additional discount until the end of June. Make sure to get the best seats at the best prices!”

TL Headshot “There are too many wonderful shows to choose from! We’re thrilled to welcome The Moth Mainstage back to town and the addition of Garrison Keillor is thrilling. Here are a few of my top picks for the season:

I first discovered Shinyribs music while in Austin, Texas when a friend suggested that I check him out. His live show is a fun and lively mix of danceable tunes. He’ll be here with his amazing sidemen/women. You aren’t going to want to miss this Portsmouth debut.

Born in Sweden to Argentinian parents- Jose Gonzalez is a beautiful singer/songwriter. I have been a fan for many years and play him frequently on my radio show at WUNH.

Maria Bamford is an unusual comedian. Her material is incredibly personal and she handles serious topics in a unique and refreshing way. Her comedy series on Netflix- Lady Dynamite is brilliant.”

Mt Headshot“It’s hard to pick just one author as they are all so different and so good – ranging from celebrated novelists who’ve been on our list to get for years, to one of our favorite Harvard profs, a repeat Loft guest – now with Pulitzer Prize in hand!  In terms of greatest “coup,” hardest to get, I must mention Atul Gawande, the New Yorker staff writer, practicing surgeon and savant of the medical world, who is coming to Writers on a New England Stage on September 8 with his compelling book that looks afresh at the tough topic of death and medicine as it’s being practiced today. Being Mortal was on the New York Times bestseller list for two astounding years and has been named a Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post, The New York Times Book Review, NPR, Chicago Tribune. “

Chris Curtis

Film and Outreach Manager

Chris CurtisTelluride by the Sea is always my favorite of the year. Six films, fresh from their premieres at Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. We get to see them before even NYC or LA audiences. Many of the titles go on to tremendous acclaim. Plus, a three-film series at the Loft for pass holders which celebrates some aspect from the decades of TFF, e.g., Film Noir, classics by master filmmakers or silent films. A great weekend to immerse oneself in the very best of brand new Film and masterpieces from the past! A celebration of Film, full-stop.”
