See the most buzzed about movies at The Music Hall

Let’s start with last weeks showing of Lady Bird. Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut, is topping all of the Best of lists and landing nomination after nomination. It’s a coming of age story that appeals to multiple generations, a mother/ daughter story that everyone can identify with. It’s no wonder that it has an unheard of 99% Rotten Tomato rating.

This week brings us the critically acclaimed The Florida Project. Set on a stretch of highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, this immersive movie follows another mother/daughter duo as they struggle with the harsh reality of living in the margins and find joy in everyday life. It also stars Willem Dafoe.

In February, mark you calendar to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It won three Golden Globes, Best Actress – Drama, Best Motion Picture – Drama, and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, and you’ll get your chance to see why right here at our Historic Theater.

You’ll also have the chance to see The Disaster Artist, a movie made about the creation of the “The Citizen Kane of Bad Movies,” The Room. It shows how this strange film came to life and then, how it achieved cult status. It also took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Also, mark your calendar to see, Call Me By Your Name. The charming coming-of-age drama, set in picturesque Italy, is winning awards all over the world after taking Sundance by storm.

Last but certainly not least, at the end of February, we’ve got all of the Oscar Nominated Short movies (animated, live action, and documentary). Don’t miss your chance to round out your Oscar film viewing!
