Allison Crosscup: Why did C&J Bus Lines choose to become a partner on The Ogunquit Playhouse at The Music Hall series?

Jim Jalbert: Becoming a partner on The Ogunquit Playhouse at The Music Hall series was a no brainer for us. We are a proud supporter of the local arts community and it was a perfect tie-in with our Executive Class motorcoach service connecting New York, Ogunquit, and Portsmouth together, along with our commitment to the community and families within Portsmouth and the region.

AC: This year we will be presenting the holiday classic Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, the Broadway Musical as part of this series.  Do you have a favorite White Christmas moment?

JJ: We are very excited for this year’s production of White Christmas; it’s my all-time favorite Christmas Movie. My favorite White Christmas moment is when General Waverly meets his troops again in Vermont; it is an incredible scene of appreciation.

AC: What has been your most memorable moment at The Music Hall?

JJ: Listening to and meeting author David McCallum.

AC: C&J Bus Lines has been in operation for nearly five decades.  Can you tell us a little about how the business started and how it has grown over the years?

JJ: Founded in 1968, C&J Airport Limousine began as a scheduled intercity passenger shuttle between the Seacoast of New Hampshire and Boston’s Logan Airport. Service was operated by Checker Aero-buses. From this time the company had continued to evolve rebranding to C&J Bus Lines and operating a fleet of over 25 45 foot motorcoaches, all while expanding schedules and service locations as the number of passengers carried continued to grow.

In 2011, we introduced executive class service between Portsmouth, NH, Tewksbury, MA, & Midtown Manhattan, New York City.  Today the company provides up to three daily round trips to the Big Apple with recently expanded service into Ogunquit, ME. 

We are the only privately held company in New England that provides scheduled bus service around the clock with an average fleet age of less than 6 years.  Each day, we help over 2,000 travelers arrive where they need to be and we offer a valuable experience that is dependable, friendly, and efficient.  The C&J traveling experience is traced directly to our employees. It’s more than clean coaches and passenger terminals, it’s our people and the way we take care of passengers that’s helped C&J grow.  When you’re riding with us, you don’t have to worry.
