To the Stars and Back (and the Islands, too)!

As we lunge toward winter here in Portsmouth, the urge to go inside and get cozy with a book grabs us…and with it, the diverging desire to travel far, far away! If you have these longings too, join us in the weeks ahead for four very different writers’ nights.

On Sunday, November 4, we’ll step off Planet Earth and travel to space with Scott Kelly. The astronaut and national hero will be on stage in the Historic Theather to share tales and images from his stunning new photobook Infinite Wonder and his memoir Endurance. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the astronaut in person!

We’re back home on November 6 with Lee Child and his latest in the Jack Reacher series. In Past Tense, Jack Reacher chases his past in the New Hampshire woods, Laconia, and Manchester. This Writers on a New England Stage event will still go on during the elections, with yours truly as moderator.

Later in the month on the 14th, we’ll land in St. John with the always-fun, ever-glamorous Elin Hilderbrand and Winter in Paradise, her first novel—a mystery!—set on the U.S. Virgin Island. This event is already sold out, but you can join us after the show for a post-event book signing and meet-and-greet. Finally, on Tuesday, December 4, we’ll gather with bestselling author Ann Hood and her husband, food writer Michael Ruhlman (The Soul of a Chef and The French Laundry Cookbook), to discuss her essays and recipes nourishing bodies and souls.
