Kitchen Tour 2019: Featured Home: 233 Vaughan #402

You must join us on Saturday, May 11 for Kitchen Tour 2019 because you must see this kitchen. The kitchen in this home is filled with fabulous surfaces and textures. It’s a favorite of mine, though, because of the island. It is absolutely ginormous. And fully decked with special features. I think I could get shipwrecked here and survive happily for years!

The island countertop is one of the lux surfaces in this home. The ribbons of black and gray and cream are so sparkly that in one place it resembles a slice of geode. Sunk into the center is a deep sink with a tall, gracefully curved faucet. This lovely curve is repeated in the curve of the pendant lamps up above. Keep looking up and notice the tray ceiling that mirrors the same footprint as the island itself. Though it’s currently flanked by five comfy leather chairs, this island could easily accommodate twice that many guests. Drop your eyes to the floor and you’ll see a gorgeous piece of art: a custom, turned brass foot rail by Peter Happny. These homeowners have made a conscious effort to feature the work of local artists. How do they feel about supporting stowaways, I wonder? This island also boasts lots of storage space. Fill that up with snacks and I really could enjoy being marooned on this isle!

Come visit me and the island at 233 Vaughan—or any one of the amazing islands on this tour—on Saturday, May 11. Advance tickets are $25 for Music Hall members and $27 for non-members. They can be purchased at our B2W Box Office at 28 Chestnut Street in downtown Portsmouth, online at TheMusicHall.org, or by calling 603-436-2400. Tickets are available at the box office on the day of the Kitchen Tour for $30.
