Kitchen Tour 2019: Featured Home: 77 State Street #401

One of the things I love most about Seacoast living is easy access to the ocean. Ten minutes and I’m at the beach! The owners of this kitchen must feel the same way. But they’ve got me beat. They don’t even need to leave their home to hit the waves.

These homeowners wanted to bring the beach cottage to the city, and they did that by incorporating elements of water into every aspect of this kitchen. From the crest of the island and the curve of the cabinet hardware to the flowing waves of glass in the pendants, hints of H2O are everywhere. The bold, organic pattern in the marble of the countertops, which climb the wall as a backsplash, reminds me of shallow water over rocks, or cracking ice. The curvy island, featuring those sleek white countertops floating over a solid base, brings to mind waves breaking on a black sand beach.

Spring is coming so slowly this year. Don’t wait for summer beach days or splurge on a Southern vacation. Join me on Saturday, May 11 for the 2019 Kitchen Tour and visit this beachy abode (Note: no flip-flops allowed inside but hey, no sand, either!) and an array of other incredible kitchens across downtown Portsmouth.

Advance tickets are $25 for Music Hall members and $27 for non-members. They can be purchased at our B2W Box Office at 28 Chestnut Street in downtown Portsmouth, online at TheMusicHall.org, or by calling 603-436-2400. Tickets are available at the box office on the day of the Kitchen Tour for $30.
