Meet Our New Neighbor: Bangor Savings Bank

As a community-supported non-profit organization, The Music Hall devotes a lot of time to gratitude. We are so grateful to have the generous support of so many fantastic volunteers, members, donors, and sponsors. In the spirit of this season of thanksgiving, we wanted to highlight one of our sponsors who is also practicing gratitude and generosity in a unique way: Bangor Savings Bank.

Although they’ve only recently expanded to Portsmouth, Bangor Savings Bank has been operating in Maine for over 165 years. They were the first Maine bank to eliminate fees to withdraw funds from any ATM worldwide, including reimbursement for ATM withdrawal fees assessed by other banks when using their ATMs. Since then, the Bank has reimbursed its customers over $25 million in ATM withdrawal fees. They celebrated this landmark occasion in a spectacular way in October by giving each of their nearly 1,000 employees $25 to do a simple act of kindness. Employees were invited to use their $25 to help others in any way they see fit, be it purchasing diapers for a non-profit daycare, buying school supplies for a local classroom, giving an elderly neighbor a grocery store gift card, or even pooling their funds to make a more significant impact. (Sounds kind of like our Give the Gift of Magic campaign, doesn’t it?)

One of our newest Evening Sponsors, Bangor Savings Bank offers retail banking to consumers as well as comprehensive commercial, corporate, payroll administration, merchant services, and small business banking services to businesses. The Bank currently has 58 branches across Maine and New Hampshire—including their newest location at 8 Bow Street, right here in Portsmouth—and can also be found on the web at www.bangor.com. When you visit them at their new location to welcome them to the neighborhood, be sure to thank them for their support of The Music Hall!
