Every month, I read Vogue Magazine cover to cover. I curl up with each issues and a quad shot soy latte, I put my iPhone on do not disturb, it’s become one of my traditions. I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember, replacing my hot chocolate with a latte as I got older. I’ve been fascinated by the people who create it month after month, issue after issue and when the Devil Wears Prada burst on to every best seller list I promptly bought a copy and curled up with it and my quad soy latte.Read More

I recently saw one of my favorite bands, The Lone Bellow at The Music Hall. Every time I see the band live, I fall more and more in love. This time was particularly special because it was at the Historic Theater.Read More

I have a confession: I follow a cat on Instagram, making me one of Goal Kitty’s 4000+ followers, I also follow an adorable puppy, but that’s for another blog post. As someone who has worked in social media for longer than I care to admit, I’m still fascinated by how popular pictures and videos of cats are. Every time I scroll through any of my social streams I come across at least one video of a cat doing something that is sure to make me smile.Read More

I keep a lot of movie lists in my head, or at least I try to. I love the conversations that start with lines like: “What’s your favorite Tom Hanks movie?” Substitute almost any actor, genre or director for Tom Hanks, and you have a recipe for a usefully wasted hour for any film buff.
But I’ll have to admit that I’ve never had an active list in my head labeled Favorite Chilean Movies of All Time. Until 2012.Read More

One of my first excited thoughts, when I made the decision to move to Kittery, Maine was, “I will be so close to the Music Hall.” In fact, I am within walking distance, just over the Memorial Bridge. However, I did opt for the car when I headed out last Saturday night, in the March cold, to attend the Moth Radio show, and the following member appreciation party.Read More

On April 21st, my band, The Farthest Forests, was lucky enough to perform at The Music Hall. As local musicians, this was a distinct honor – how many of us ever get the chance to perform for hundreds of people in such a beautiful, historic setting? What’s more, we had the honor of meeting and sharing the stage with the fantastic Felice Brothers and the otherworldly O’Death, and as part of the first ever Portsmouth Singer Songwriter Festival, we get to say we shared a place in history with the legendary Merle Haggard and Roseanne Cash. We are extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to play a part in such a momentous occasion.Read More

This winter when in New York hunting for artists and acts to bring to The Music Hall I got to see Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Carnegie Hall. They were celebrating 50 years in the business and I have to admit I flashed back to being a little girl in Central Illinois and being taken to my first concert by my mother to experience real New Orleans Music—Preservation Hall Jazz Band.Read More

If there was no Music Hall, I’d be living in New York. No question. The thought struck yesterday as I was listening to Exec Director Patricia Lynch talk about upcoming social events at The Music Hall, and how the dearth of social gatherings in corporate America today (whatever happened to those family picnics? to after-work cocktails?) has caused people to come out not only to our shows but to our social and educational events.Read More
